How Many Calories to Lose Weight

That is a very important question, because if you consume more calories, than you burn, then you simple can not lose weight. But for some reason people just do not want to count calories or believe that counting calories is not important. If you do not count calories, then you are making it very hard for yourself to lose weight. Ideally you would want to make it as easy as possible.

There are many different ways to lose weight, some are more accurate then others. The most common want to determine your calorie consumption is to multiply your body weight in pounds with 12 or 13. For example if you weigh 190 pounds, then your you should consume around 2280 calories. But this method does not take into account your activity level or your body fat percentage. But you do get some idea.

Some of the average calorie requirements for weight loss for men is 2200-2700 calories and 1400-1800 calories for women. These are only averages but yet again you can modify them, depending on your body type and activity level.

The more active you are, the more calories your body burns and the easier it is for you to lose weight. For example a endurance athlete can burn around 5000-6000 calories or more a day and still burn fat, because the amount of calories, that are burned is so high. Bodybuilders can also eat 5000 or more calories and not gain any fat at all. They can eat so many calories because they have so much muscle mass and the more muscle you have on your body, the more calories you burn.
